Outback animal show rides into Kilcoy this week

Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain is coming to Kilcoy this weekend, bringing his award-winning Katherine Outback Experience to the Kilcoy Campdraft Grounds on Saturday, November 29.
The ‘Here’s To You Tour’ showcases real horse training and working dog demonstrations, entwined with humorous bush tales followed by two hours of live music, with songs from Curtain’s chart-topping album Here’s To You and performances by fellow artists Laura Frank, Chris Matthews, Nick Morrissey, and Melanie Gray.
“Our shows are raw and real, no two are the same because the animals have their own personalities, so it’s unpredictable, funny and heartfelt,” Tom said.
“One bloke told me that wasn’t just a show about training horses or dogs, it was a show about understanding animals and our own humanity and that’s exactly what we try to share.”
The tour also builds on Curtain’s long-standing partnership with Dolly’s Dream, which focuses on bullying prevention, online safety, and mental well-being.
He is also releasing his first children’s book in time for Christmas, inspired by the animals of Katherine Outback Experience, with a percentage of proceeds being donated to Dolly’s Dream.
Over the past decade, the Katherine Outback Experience has grown from a small act with just one horse, two dogs and a swag into a large-scale production beloved by families, often bringing three or four generations together on the dance floor.
“It’s more than entertainment, it’s about giving people a night out, a reason to reconnect, and a reminder that they’re not alone,” Tom said.
