THE Caboolture Snakes U19s have secured a grand final win in an explosive 74-12 victory against the Caloundra Sharks on September 15.
The Snakes never looked troubled, running in 13 tries to Caloundra’s two. Snakes hooker Bayden Hales, lock Harrison Hunt, winger Adam Khan, and interchange players Casino Williams and Jayden Alefaio all scored two tries each. Caboolture interchange Christian Vaigafa, fullback Patrick Cathcart, and five eighth George Taualai all scored one try.
The U19s Snakes captain, Bayden Hales, said he was proud of the squad and club for the stellar season. “This win is one of the best feelings there is, it’s awesome,” the jubilant captain said. “This is my first grand final win, so it’s pretty great.”
Earlier this month, five Snakes junior teams also played in their respective grand final matches. The U13 Div 1 boys and U15 girls both won their grand finals against the Maroochydore Swans and the Coolum Colts respectively. Other junior Snakes teams to make the grand final but lost, were the U14 Div 1 boys, and the U13 and U17 girls teams.
In further good news for the Snakes, State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan, announced funding for major upgrades to their clubhouse if State Labor is re-elected in October. Mr Ryan said Labor would commit $3 million towards the construction of a new Snakes clubhouse, with co-contributions from the federal and council governments.
The total cost would be $9m. The new clubhouse will include a fully accessible commentators, scoring and filming booth, amenities, change rooms, gym, kitchen and administration areas. It will also include family friendly tiered seating, increasing the capacity from 208 to 405.
“I’m a big supporter of the Caboolture Snakes, and what better way to support the club and its growing membership than to commit the funding to finally get this clubhouse project done,” Mr Ryan said.
