Zonta Caboolture celebrates 31 years
The ladies of the Zonta Club Caboolture celebrated their 31st anniversary on August 3 at the Burpengary Community Centre, marking the exact date the club was chartered in 1993.
Many current and past members attended the celebration, including several who have also been part of Zonta International for many years, as well as Charter President Sandra Cooke.
Zonta Club of Caboolture President Pam Berkett said the event was a great, fun day for the 23 members and friends to catch up, complete with fun facts related to the number 31.
In their 31 years, the ladies of Caboolture have been involved in numerous projects, including supplying items to the Caboolture and Burpengary police station soft rooms, providing breast cushions and turbans to local hospitals for women undergoing breast surgery, giving Christmas vouchers to local groups supporting families in need, and purchasing the Pink Dragons their first Dragon Boat.
“Our mission is to continue to build a better world for women and girls,” Ms Berkett said.
“Our club envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognised as human rights. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.”
The club has two upcoming functions, including their fashion parade in September and a wellbeing event with many stallholders in November.
